The Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD Sony FE is a compact and lightweight all-in-one zoom lens. The lens delivers high-level performance from 28mm wide-angle to 200mm telephoto. The lens has a large maximum aperture of F2.8 at 28mm, a world's first for all-in-one zoom lenses, and delivers high-level performance from 28mm wide-angle to 200mm telephoto. The lens boasts a generous assortment of special lens elements that includes GM (Glass Molded Aspherical), hybrid aspherical, XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements is precisely arranged to effectively control chromatic and other aberrations, enabling high resolving power. The application of BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating for suppressing reflections on lens element surfaces minimises unwanted flare and ghosting to deliver sharp, crisp, high-contrast images.

The lens is also very suitable for close-ups. At 28 mm, the shortest focusing distance is only 19 cm, achieving a maximum image ratio of 1:3.1. The large f/2.8 aperture allows you to create beautifully blurred backgrounds while standing close to your subject. Even in telephoto mode, the close-up capability is remarkable with a shortest focusing distance of just 80 centimetres (maximum image size 1:3.8). This allows you to take very beautiful full-frame photos of, for example, butterflies and flowers.

The lens features a new AF motor system and focus is nearly silent, thanks to the Tamron RXD focus motor. This means that this lens is also very suitable for making videos.
