The optical construction of 11 elements in 9 groups, with HR and ED elements, ensures sharp images from edge to edge with accurate colour reproduction and minimal chromatic aberration. The 9-blade aperture and bright f/1.8 aperture deliver soft, natural background blur, even in low light, and make the lens suitable for portraits and street photography.

The silent STM motor ensures fast and accurate autofocus for both photo and video, with smooth focus transitions and support for eye autofocus. With a minimum focusing distance of 74 cm, you can also capture close-up details. The HD nano coating on the front glass reduces reflections and flares and is water and dust repellent. The robust aluminium alloy mount ensures a stable connection to the camera.
